Summer Of Seashells

Here's a peek of some work-in-progress - a vintage shell themed scrapbook. The cover is simple and strait forward. It has been adorned with many rare vintage shells and vintage sea life. The cluster of little shell flowers shown at the bottom center are actually a vintage seashell brooch.  I picked up this beautiful vintage "souvenir from" postcard (center) at this past Brimfield Antique Show in Brimfield, MA.  What a find! Below are a few more seashell hair clips I made this summer...

This 4 x 6 oval victorian inspired shell frame was crafted from gorgeous shards of natural pink freshwater mussels from the shores of Lake Erie.

Other notable shells used in this piece are vintage pink & pearl venetian pearls, spirula, white rams horn and assorted shells native to the Philippines.

This is just one of the many shell hair clips I am currently in the process of making. This hair clip is made from dyed cup shells and dyed gar fish scales. All  shells and scales are from vintage stock. I've added some faux pearl centers accents in a few of the shell flowers. Here is another version...
